We're proud to launch a partnership with SOS Children’s Villages to support children who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care in Sri Lanka. The SOS village in Nuwara Eliya is set on 2.5 acres of hill country in the central highlands of Sri Lanka and gives almost 100 children the care of SOS parents, brothers and sisters and the opportunity to grow up feeling safe, loved and supported.

The village was founded by SOS Children’s Villages 30 years ago during the country’s 20-year civil conflict and was set up to support children who had lost their parents or were forced to flee their homes. The village was and still remains a place of peaceful co-existence between Sinhalese and Tamil children growing up side by side as friends and neighbours.

The money from humble warrior will go to the SOS village community twice a year and will help pay for carers, teachers, school books, uniforms and food, as well as providing access to good healthcare, clean water and essential building maintenance. It will also go towards community projects to help keep families together in the wider Nuwara Eliya area.

Rosh Amarasekara, co-founder of humble warrior said:

“There’s nothing more important to Andy and me than building a business that genuinely gives back to the world we live in. humble warrior is hugely inspired by Sri Lanka from our logo to the extraordinary plants we source from there. SOS Children’s Villages has been caring for Sri Lankan children for more than three decades, and is loved, trusted and respected by communities in Sri Lanka.

“Nuwara-Eliya is an incredible part of Sri Lanka, 2,000 meters above the sea it is home to the country’s biggest exported plant – the world’s finest tea - and is an ethnically mixed part of the country. The SOS village there is a shining example of how different communities can live together in understanding and peace, and we are truly humbled to play our small part in it.”

Holly Christie, Head of Partnerships said:

"We really love how wonderfully joined up this partnership is – that humble warrior really are committed to giving back to the community where they also get their crucial ingredients from. We’re so excited about working together to deliver lasting change for children in Sri Lanka, and it’s really inspiring to see how humble warrior share this excitement. We look forward to a long and successful partnership and sharing lots of stories of lives changed forever. Thank you for your incredible support.”
